Spermidine
Also known as: polyamine, wheat germ extract (spermidine-rich)
Recommended Dosage
1–2 mg
Spermidine is a naturally occurring polyamine found in aged cheese, wheat germ, and soybeans that induces autophagy — the cellular recycling process that declines with age. Observational studies link higher dietary spermidine intake with reduced cardiovascular mortality and improved cognitive function in the elderly. A small RCT demonstrated improved memory performance in older adults at risk of dementia. It is considered one of the more promising caloric restriction mimetics.
TL;DR: Autophagy inducer with strong epidemiological link to reduced all-cause mortality. RCT evidence for memory improvement in elderly.

Some RCTs with positive results, or strong observational evidence. More research may refine our understanding.
Important Notes
- Food-equivalent doses; excellent safety
- Wheat germ extract is most studied supplemental form
- Also found in natto, mushrooms, aged cheese
