Beta-Glucan

Also known as: β-1,3/1,6-D-glucan, oat beta-glucan, yeast beta-glucan, Wellmune

Beta-glucans are polysaccharides found in yeast cell walls, oats, and mushrooms that modulate immune function through activation of macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells via the Dectin-1 receptor. Yeast-derived beta-1,3/1,6-glucan (such as Wellmune) has the strongest evidence for reducing upper respiratory tract infections in athletes and stressed populations. Oat-derived beta-glucan has separate FDA-approved health claims for cholesterol reduction at 3g/day.

TL;DR: Dual-purpose supplement: yeast-derived for immune support (250mg), oat-derived for cholesterol (3g). Both well-supported by RCTs.
